The Weekend in Pictures

'Twas a busy weekend, indeed. Between the wedding and the dance workshop, there wasn't time for anything else. Here are a bunch of digital photos. The film stuff hasn't been developed yet....

First, I went and had my hair done. Here's the end product from the back.

And from the front.

After the marriage ceremony, I dance my ass off. Here I am (in new costume) with snowy_kathryn in her wedding dress.

I think this is the first photo I've had taken of me with my dance students. From the left, littlekeltie (in one of the giant skirts I made), me, snowy_kathryn, random_echoes (in a skirt made and dyed by Pandora of Halifax), Ragna (honourary dance student), and Nigel.

The next day, f00dave and I journeyed to Saint John, and before I went to the dance performance, I snuck up on some beavers.

Then I was off to the Sunday dance workshop with the wonderful Aziza. Here's Aziza (on the right) demonstrating a pose called the Roman cape.

Aziza took a photo op with me at the end.

A write-up of the events is forthcoming. Right now, I need to hie myself off to the gym.

A workshop with Aziza, wow! I'm envious... I have seen her dance on a DVD ("On Fire"), and I admire her elegant, flowing style to no end.

She is amazing. Her second performance on Saturday night was the best performance I've yet seen. She's become my new favourite performer. Wow.

And she's a real sweety, too. If you get a chance to take a workshop with her, go for it.

Oh, I'd absolutely love to take a workshop with her, but I am not sure whether she'd come to Germany. And I don't happen to be in Canada a lot... (in fact I've never been outside Europe LOL)

In class we are doing veil work right now, and we just learned the movement she is showing (Roman cape). Only that it looks much better when Aziza does it ;)

I love the tulle-bi-telli skirt! One of these days I will have the time to sew again...

The tulle-bi-telli is super itchy, so I put a loose double lining under each panel. I used the same fabric on the bra and girdle as I used in the lining. The skirt was very easy to make. It's basically just two rectangles with an elastic. I sewed two chains on either side of the skirt (which I shall replace since they're far too flimsy) through all three layers.

I think that when I replace the chains, I'll make them slightly shorter, too. The skirt is rather revealing, especially on turns, and a shorter chain may make it a bit more modest.
