shanmonster: (For goodness sakes. I've got the....)
I've felt positively run down for the past two days, so when I got home from work yesterday, I played hookey from kung fu. I think I needed the break. My throat was sore and swollen, I felt exhausted, and my muscles ached. Today, I feel much better. I suspect I was fighting off a call centre plague. My throat is still slightly swollen, but I don't feel gross today. Hoorah for that!

When I'm through my breakfast, I think I'll run off to go kayaking for a while before returning to watch Gormenghast.

I've been reading the books voraciously for the past week or so, and enjoying them far more than I thought I would. I'm at the point in the book where main characters are dropping like flies. Jeepers!

I have played hooky from kung fu since Wednesday and I feel terrible about it, because I just achieved my white sash on Monday. But as it turns out, I have a horrible tonsilitis infection (my doctor's exact words were, "wow, those are some pus-filled tonsils you've got") and have been contagious, so I don't feel *quite* so bad about not making it the past couple of days.

But I can't wait to get back, either. :)

I hope you are feeling even better today. :)

I'm feeling much better, aside from the pesky little frog in my throat. Darned thing!

By the books, I'm assuming the Ghormenghast books? If so - do NOT waste your time with the third. As good as the first two are, the third is propertionally as bad.

I'm willing to give it a shot, anyhow. I'm intrigued at how Peake approaches steampunk.

Chocolate violates her (self-appointed) diet. Ice wine does, too, but she'd do it anyway if we had the money for it (we don't). And while I would /dearly/ love to flog her, she's not terribly interested in that sort of thing. :-(

I think it's just more noticeable in this environment, since I rely on my voice so much more.

f00 and Kathryn made chocolate mousse the other night. It was so rich, I thought it was killing me. I can't handle it! No more mousse for me.

Ice wine, though? Hmm. If I could afford it, I'd probably turn into an ice wine alcoholic.

I am a political prisoner in England. Keni Ali-Boo-Boo-Insane is holding me prisoner in Oxford. He keeps on trying to hump my bottom. My bottom is seeking political asylum. Me and my bottom are not pleased. Hopefully by August or Septemeber I will be allowed my papers so I can back to the land of neo-Germanic nomenclature.

and I forgot to add some useless Brit slang to add something to the ambience of my last post: "Ooh arr Mater! I can't adam and ever it! Smoke me a kipper I'll be back in the morning. Blimey geezer you look like you're pranged out of your mind. Fuck about (fack abauht)! The following sayings can be commonly found in the more touristy parts of England: White or brown (crack or smack), fancy a vicar's daughter (quarter of hash), what's the paper work on that (how much money), can I borrow your fish (can i borrow your weighing scales), feel like a wife beater (fancy a pint of Stella Artois). There's a huuuuuuuuuuuge smack and crack problem in England. It's a real-life version of Irving Welsh books.

Glad to hear you're still kicking! I knew you were in bloody Olde England somewhere, but was unsure as to where. Keep off the crack. BTW: Has Irvine Welsh got any new books coming out? I love his writing.
