Holy crap! Am I ever exhausted today!

It was caused by a combination of things: Wednesday's weight-training regimen (holy ouch on my triceps!), and last night's kung fu class. I worked so hard that I almost barfed. My supper was writhing around in my esophagus, trying to fight its way back out of me as I went through the six-punch set from fook fu at top speed in excess of one hundred times. And that on top of all the running, plus the kicking/punching drills, and all the crunches and forms.

We had a surprise guest: Sifu Tim from the west coast popped by for a visit. It was at his instigation that we did the six-punch set at such speed and power. The repetitions were broken down into sets of ten, led by the senior members of the class. I led the ninth set, so I guess that puts me up there in rank. I thought I might die, I was working so hard, but somehow, I persevered and survived. Not only that, but I was complimented on my form. Just those little words of praise made me work all the harder. I thrive on positive feedback, I guess.

Partway through the class, during the drills, representatives from the local t'ai chi chu'an school showed up. Some of the students will be fighting with some of ours on the weekend, and apparently, they were very nervous. So their sifu arranged for them to come and scope us out. We were going through the drills at rapid-fire rate, and when our sifu said, "Break!", we all dropped and began doing crunches. "Back to work!" he said, after 60 seconds or so, and we went back to drills. "Break!" he called, after another two minutes had passed, and we went back to crunches.

One of the t'ai chi students in earshot exclaimed, "THAT'S what they do for breaks???"

Yup. Pretty much.
