I have new sneakers! Yay!

Now I can throw out my >10-year-old ones which bear more of a resemblance to Swiss cheese than to running shoes.

What's a comy-foot? I think you missed a letter, FunnyFace. :-)

If you're not going to Moncton tomorrow, should we arrange Bike Trip IV?

Oops.

I'd be able to go biking in the morning, regardless. I wouldn't be going to Moncton until the afternoon.

That being said, I'm not sure how early I'll be getting up, considering tonight's shenanigans and my late shifts next week.... Plus, it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Ugh.

Well, I'll tentatively announce for 11:00, then, if the weather holds. We could head across the bridge again, and take a left on the trail, turning towards Devon (there's another path that I haven't explored yet: no idea where/how far it goes).

If the weather isn't horrible and I'm not going to Moncton, would you like to go to Oromocto to scout out the thrift shops for leather and stuff?

On bikes? Perhaps. I doubt our erstwhile biking partners (if any) would want to go that far, so perhaps we can make a two-stager out of it. If the weather holds, as I said. That's tempting the fates, though...

Thank you! Thank you! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who hates getting rid of shoes!

Date: 2005-08-20 06:18 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] f00dave.livejournal.com
I think that's a common trait. New shoes are always a pain in the foot, while they break in.

My new sneakers aren't a pain, but maybe that's because I have orthopedic insoles.

I have orthopedic insoles, too, but can't wear them to kung fu. The arch support is too high to let me do dragons without feeling like my feet are tearing.

They're great for running, though.

I wasn't going to get rid of them until I knew I had the perfect replacement. I'd purchased other sneakers a couple of years back, but they're just no good for kung fu. The arch support is too high, so they've been relegated to just the gym. These new shoes will do me for outdoor kung fu as well as pretty much everything else. Huzzah!

I have a big hate on for shoes as of late. All my shoes hurt me in different ways. When I go out for the day I have to decide what kind of pain I'm in the mood for. Yay. :( Shoes suck.

Date: 2005-08-20 07:40 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
That's because you buy shoes made of plastic rather than leather! Plastic shapes your feet, whereas feet shape leather.

And let's face it--you've gotta give up heels, at least until your feet feel better.

She's right! Leather ain't cheap, though. Been to the thrift shops yet? If not ... why not? :-)

Date: 2005-08-20 07:56 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] snowy-kathryn.livejournal.com
I haven't found any thrift shops yet.

Try this, then once you hit one of them up the staff will usuall tell you where the others are. :-)

I've stopped wearing my heels for any trips that take longer than 20 minutes. I've hauled my Docs back out and I'm wearing those, but even they give me blisters and they're leather. *sigh* I have the wussiest feet in the world.

You might want to visit a podiatrist and get some custom insoles. They helped my flat feet a whole hell of a lot.

New sneakers are a must. God I love that springy feeling.

Oddly enough, my new shoes don't feel especially springy. Maybe it's because I'm a Tigger to begin with.
