Me: How may I help you?

Silly Customer (SC): I want a room.

Me: For which evening?

SC: Tonight.

Me: And for how many nights?

SC: Two people.

Me: Ok, and for how many evenings?

SC: Two people.

Me: Er, arriving tonight, and leaving on which day?

SC: Oh. Tomorrow.

Me: And are you travelling on business or for conference.

SC: I want a room away from the highway.

Me: ... I'll certainly take a look for that. And are you travelling on business or for conference?

Different Silly Customer (DSC): Yeah. For one night.

Me: Are you travelling on business or for conference?

DSC: Just for leisure.

Me: I'll be just one minute while I check availability.

Yet Another Silly Customer (YASC): Yeah. Just one night.

Me: ... Unfortunately, we are sold out. I can give you numbers of other hotels in the area, if you like?

SC: Yeah. Nonsmoking.

Me: ... We are sold out.

SC: Oh. Ok.

And somehow, I sound completely friendly and unphased throughout calls like these.

I am strong. Raah!

Hmmmm.....you're clearly better at that whole dealing with stupid people thing than I am. Halfway into that conversation I'm pretty sure I would have launched on him. It's as if you were holding two seperate conversations.

I guess that's why they pay me the big bucks.

Ha!

You'd be surprised how often I use that phrase. Actually...I've modified it slightly to "That's why they pay me the medium bucks."

Y'know...now that I think about it, you probably wouldn't be that surprised ;-)

Right. Another reason I friended you. The strength. It's cool.

Question: do you feel an affinity for the Luna Lovegood character in the Harry Potter books. 'Cause my first impression of you is a lot like that. And yes, that is a good thing.

Well, I was definitely the weirdo throughout school. That much is true. But I was certainly never what one could call serene.

You sure the 'S' shouldn't stand for Stoned instead of Silly?

I don't think they were stoned. They just were paying absolutely no attention, and they kept switching the telephone between people. It was just highly irritating.

Now I have had stoned people call. I could hear them inhaling sharply, coughing, and giggling like mad.

I question the wisdom of booking expensive stays while under the influence of mind-altering substances....
