Today, I danced downtown with Kathryn by the Craft School. I think I'm going to do this on a regular basis. Not only will it give me extra dancing practice, but it'll help promote Middle Eastern dance, possibly get me some money (in the form of tips), and will be just plain fun. We had our pictures taken with an Asian tourist, this afternoon, and she also asked us a few questions. It's a start....

I'm planning on dancing downtown again at lunchtime. Come and join me. It'll be fun.

Later this afternoon, our brains cooked by unrelenting sunshine, Kathryn and I took off to the pool for a much-needed dip. I felt muchly refreshed, but I know I was already overheated. My head hurts, and I think I have a bit of a burn, despite the bukkake of sunscreen I'd applied.

On my way home, I got some good dumpster-diving in. Someone had junked what looked like garage sale remnants, and I made off with a leather coat (suitable for sewing projects, but not for wearing as-is), a really nice leather vest, a pair of jeans (for more sewing projects), a white cotton dress, and a big pink blanket which is ideal for belt lining. Score! I'll be working on a tribal dance belt tonight. I'd like to have it finished this week. I can tell it's going to be great.

Finally, I went with f00 to Girl Jodie's, where she fed us supper, then stripped us naked for a light painting photo shoot. I hope the pictures turn out. She took pictures of a whole bunch of bared flesh on a whole bunch of people (excepting those who didn't want their winkies to be seen by the evil eye of the camera).

Unfortunately, the day was marred by my lungs. They absolutely hate me. I've been an asthmoid beast all day. I surely do need to get a steroid puffer again. I hate those suckers. They turn me into a hellbitch. Ah well. It's worth it if I can just breathe normally again without breaking into jettisons of coughs. Argh.

You make it sound like such a normal, everyday sort of occurance. Sounds fun.

It wasn't extraordinarily unusual for me. I am a nude model for artists. However, it was my first time working with a nude group in about ten years.

Sooo...

Did you just hole up on a street corner and start dancin away? And if so, do you need some sort of merchant's license or performance license of any sort?

I've dreamed of doing that heh.

I went down to an artists/craftspeople part of town. It's right beside the Craft School, where I am a student. I asked the artists if they minded if I set up there, and they all seemed keen on it. And then I just started dancing! I'll keep dancing until the artists get sick of me or someone drags me away. But something tells me dancing there is a good thing. It will help draw in even more tourists, which is exactly what they want.

I may be mistaken, but I think the buskers' license may be more of an issue if I was dancing in an area less designed for tourists, and more for businesspeople. I think the license is just a technicality, and a means of keeping panhandlers from harassing businesspeople. Maybe I'm wrong, though....

While you are right about it being probably a technicality to stop panhandling, I would say that that isn't necessrily goign to stop some cunty cop or whoever from getting you fined... You *may* want to look into it. On the other hand, since you aren't specifically looking for money, maybe it is less of an issue.
