shanmonster: (For goodness sakes. I've got the....)
The other day, while a bit inebriated on a tasty white wine, I chanced upon a staccato method of using snake arms. As of today, I've begun an exploration into arm movements. All along, I've focused much more upon torso movements and muscular isolations. So now it's time to expand. I think something delicious will come of all this, although my wrists and forearms aren't terribly keen on the floreos. I expect that will get better with time, as my muscles learn which parts can relax while the other parts work.

In the meantime, my explorations are guided in part by Dancer's Arms DVD by Aruna. I'm enjoying the DVD. Aside from the new age music in it, that is....

And now, click here if you would like to help keep me entertained at work. And join in the game, if you're so inclined! It's called Kings of Chaos, and it looks like a good between-calls diversion.

I happen to have a certain fondness for orcs. I think they're helluva sexy.

Have you seen Urban Tribal and/or Ultra Gypsy? UG just came out with a new video, 'Medusa in teh Machine'. But both groups use staccato arms and staccato torso movements, and they look bitchin'. UT taught them at Spirit of the Tribes a few years ago...and they will be back at Tribes this year, should you feel the no doubt super-expensive need to attend. :)

No, I haven't seen it, but I'd like to. Do you know if there are any clips online?

I haven't been able to locate any UG online, but UT has a clip right on their front page: http://www.urbantribaldance.com/ -- it's over to the right.

If you go to http://www.khafif.com/khafif/audiovisual.html and click on the "Spirit of the Tribes" video, you can see a dance that my troupe did with "broken" arms in it, too.
