On Saturday night, I wore a pair of chandelier earrings attached to the hoops already in my ear. I believed my ears were healed, but apparently they weren't quite ready for the extra weight. My ears are tender, and the left ear is bulging with grossness. I've already milked a horrid reddish sticky ooze out of it. I'll have to clean and medicate it again as soon as I get home. Gross.

I'm back at work. It took me a little while to get back into the swing of things, but I still haven't lost my booking machine status. I'm booking rooms on almost every call. I think it is my superpower.

Last night, I watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's great to see a movie stick so closely to the spirit of the source material. Depp was great as the socially-inept and creepy chocolate magnate, and I also appreciated the scatological allusions, just 'cause.

I also watched the first episode of Rome (which I enjoyed), and the absolute worst vampire movie I've ever seen: a cinematic abortion called Blade of the Vampire. It's so bad, IMDB doesn't even have a listing. This movie has no rewatch value. Hell, it doesn't even have primary watch value, but for whatever reason, [livejournal.com profile] f00dave and I sat through the whole thing. At one point, I did break out into uncontrolled laughter at the hunting behaviour of ancient vampires. If you're an ancient vampire trying to kill your hunter, you should stand up on a sofa with your arms extended. The hunter will not see you, even if he's facing you. Then you should shake your face like a goof, and leap onto the hunter. You will always prevail, if you follow these steps.

Tonight, I'm planning on watching the next episode of Rome. It's time to get my classics groove back.

I liked this adaptation of Charlie and the Choc Factory, but found the whole oh-Dad-dear-Dad-you-were-a-strict-dentist-and-I'm-so-sad bit tacked on and superfluous, even if it was a good roel for Christopher Lee.

Yeah. That was a bit schmaltzy. But it was such a small bit that I can overlook it.

classics groove?

having everyone in Rome speak with a phony brit accent does not a "classics" make...

(gf watches it religously...i'm sort of meh.)

I don't mean that the show is a classic, but that it has classical (ie. ancient Roman/Greek) themes.

Uh, you realize that Rome was coproduced by BBC4, and is cast with British actors, right?

The accents may be many things, but phony British accents they're not.
