A lot. They had to bleach sections three times to get it right, and they had to purple it twice. My hair was difficult for them to work with because it's been colour-treated for years. They still couldn't get a perfect match with the roots and the length, but at least the transition is gradual and not sharp.

I have the opposite problem. Anything light makes me turn green like a frog. Before they put the purple in, I had bleach blonde hair down along my face. It looked nasty, and cemented how I should never, ever decide to go blonde.

I used to do purple, but found that my hair rejected it quickly. There would be, perhaps 3 solid days of purpley goodness before it washed out to an unattractive bluish-grey.

I was told that with this particular type of dye, the fading should be very minimal. It's supposed to stay purple.

My friend Linda had purple put in her hair a while back, and it's fading to a neat lilac/grey. No pink at all!

I guess each dye is different.

I used Special effex, and I loved the faded color so much I suffered through six weeks of blue shampoo before it got good.
