shanmonster: (For goodness sakes. I've got the....)
Hoorah! My site is online again! Did you miss me? I missed me.

I've been working on getting excellent stock for the dance workshop(s) this autumn. I've received more hip scarves in from Turkey, as well as some nifty folkloric hats. I've also been getting in quite a few new Middle Eastern dance CDs in a variety of styles. I have traditional music and will also be receiving some Egyptian pop. I really hope they sell as well as the CDs did this spring at the Jalilah workshop.

Yesterday, I finished another tribal belt. This one is made of navy blue hand-dyed Indian cotton shot through with gold, mustard yellow Indian cotton, and navy, red, and mustard wool tassels. I decorated with gold-toned metal fobs. It's quite nice, but I prefer the first one I made with brown upholstery fabric. I'm hoping I can sell the new one. It takes a long time to make one of these, and materials aren't free, so I'd be asking for about $125 for it. I'll post pictures as soon as I can get some decent ones.

Here's a picture of me dancing in the first one I made (I also made the skirt and vest) at the Farmers' Market. I'm especially proud of the colour combinations. I think they go together very well.

[I'd been dancing for about four hours at this point]

The colors do go quite well together, the purple tassels are a good bridge between green and red ones, keeps it from looking like Christmas.

Thanks! The fabric for the belt has subtle tones of purple, green, and red in it. Not that it's visible from a distance....

I have more of the fabric left. I think I'll make more belts with it.

I love the costume. Very well made. I also think your site is wonderful, and am glad to see it back up and running, ready to attract more unsuspecting viewers who came about it while looking for squirrel vulvas or brocoli enemas or some other absurd thing

Aw, shucks!

And the most recent weird search term leading to my site was "semen nutrition."

Hoorah.
