Ok, Bjork's "Army of Me" is just not going to work. It's too slow. So I'm looking for something else. Thanks to you, I have plenty of juicy leads.
Danke!
I just got home from Body Jam, a dance exercise class. It kicked my ass, which means I love it! The movements were similar to raqs sharqi in many ways, but the stances were much wider, and the movements far more aggressive. And it was mixed with a lot of hiphop dance, and some rather West African-looking movements. I had great fun, but this style of dance is not coming naturally. I caught my reflection dancing like a big old monkey.
If I keep going regularly, maybe I'll learn a bit of grace. And wowzers, but this is a great cardio workout. I recommend it.
So tomorrow is back to plain old weights, and then I'll take Sunday off ... mostly. I might be going hiking, and I might be attending an introductory workshop on Contact Improv. I've been curious about this dance form for about three years, and this looks like a perfect opportunity to check it out.
And yeah, here are more links:
They Are Made of Meat: What alien probes are really about.
The Enormous Chicken Cometh: Run, little kitties! Run (thanks,
balthcat)!
The Sour Toe Ritual: I really don't get it.
Bank Swallows Gone Wild: Necrophiliac, gang-banging birds of doom. What the hell?
Cell Division: A collection of music I intend to peruse, possibly for performance purposes.
Worst Music Video EVER: I haven't actually watched it, yet, but am gearing up for it.
Danke!
