Woo. I'm feeling all dizzified right now, most likely from my stuffed-up sinuses. I was going to go back to school tonight to work on my metals homework, but when I feel dizzy, it seems like a bad idea to work around acetylene torches and high-speed equipment. I'll go in the morning, instead. Nevertheless, I did get quite a lot of work done this morning. Right now, I'm making stone-setting tools. I get little bits of tool steel, and work them into their desired shapes. I have three shaped, but I still need to polish and temper them. Then, I have to work on three gravers. All this needs to be done for Tuesday.

Yesterday, I discovered that to my amazement, I am a full-time student. I assumed that since I was taking three days of classes that this made me a part-time student, but no, I'm full-time. This means that there were other courses I could have been taking for the same price. Unfortunately, since no one told me about my full-time status, that means that all of the classes I'd normally take are filled up, and the only two classes with vacancies are first-year courses. So, I'm apparently taking a textiles and a surface design class in addition to my metal arts stuff. It's too bad I missed out on the design and drawing classes, but I guess I can take those later. I'm doing my diploma programme in a very insideout fashion.

I sure hope I can get a student loan. Eep.

My apartment is currently in a bulimic state. Some rooms are bare, and the others are crammed to overflowing with junk. The carpet cleaners came by yesterday, so I had to clear everything out of the livingroom, bedroom, and hallway. This means f00's office, the kitchen, and the bathroom are almost impossible to navigate. I've been slowly restoring order to the more barren rooms. I've rearranged furniture in an effort to make the most of what little space I have. I think the livingroom is more spacious, now, but I'm not certain of that.

I taught my last dance class of the summer session today. Only one student showed up: an 11-year-old girl. I don't know where all my other students went. Maybe they partied too hard last night in anticipation of a hard year's schoolwork. It's hard to say. Anyhow, this was the first time I've ever had a one-on-one session with a child. It went very well, and was no more difficult than working with an adult. I think the class was fun for both of us. This little girl is in excellent physical condition. She's a competitive gymnast, and has muscles most adults would covet. Her shoulders and arms are really solid.

Apparently, her specialty is doing back flips. I think that's pretty spiffy! I'm sure she can show me a few things in regards to flexibility exercises. I know that gymnasts are really hardcore in their stretching routines.

In teaching this girl, I've noted a problem which I've also seen in another gymnast. It would seem that, because of their training, gymnasts have a difficult time relaxing their legs. Their knees straighten right out. I realize this is a cross-training difficulty. I've experienced a parallel, myself. When I first started studying martial arts, I had a very difficult time with my kicks. I always pointed my toe. In dance, a pointed toe gives a longer, leaner line through the leg. In karate or kung fu, a pointed toe during a kick might end up being a broken toe. Ouch.

So during my dance classes, I started doing my kicks with a pulled-back foot, and then that just looked awkward.

It took me a while, but I've got everything straightened out, now.

I figure this little girl, who is very determined to continue her dance studies, will also figure everything out, after an initial bit of confusion.

Now that school is back in, and the students are all back, my dance class attendance should pick up dramatically. My next series of classes will be on Wednesday nights from 7:30-8:30 at the GoodLife Fitness Centre on the corner of Smythe and Dundonald (Fredericton, NB). Classes will run for six weeks. Prices are $60 ($50 for GoodLife members) for the six weeks, or $12 per class. I teach mixed levels, so women and girls of all ages and abilities are welcome. Unfortunately, since the fitness centre is a women's gym, I can't take on any male students. This disappoints me, because I've had several male students in the past, and they have nowhere to train, right now. I don't think any of the other teachers in town teach men. Poop.

In other news, f00's computer bit the dust this morning. This is very bad. We don't have the money to replace the necessary components. He managed to buy a crappity old mother board, but it's not really sufficient. I guess we won't be able to watch any more movies, because neither of our computers are fast enough to play them, now.

Ah well. We're both too busy with school to watch them, anyhow. Even still, I'm really going to miss watching my MST3K episodes. Sigh....

Speaking of dancing, are people still practicing down by the Craft College? I went last week but I didn't see anyone, but maybe I was there too early. I was going to go and check again this morning but I've been too busy moving and cleaning.

At the last minute, I did go last week for about an hour around noon. I didn't go today, though. I had too much homework.
