shanmonster: (Elbow smash dance move!)
Once I get everything straightened out and organized, I will be selling:

- sewing patterns (including vintage, period, fancy dress, and dance patterns)
- clothing (including a variety of dance and Indian garb)
- books (this is the scary one. Everything from fiction to nonfiction, hard cover and soft cover. I have a lot of excellent art books which can go, too, as well as a decent collection of Neil Gaiman rarities)
- software (maybe. I have to figure out what I own and what has been lent to me)
- games (boardgames, RPG, card games, etc.)
- tools (most of my metal-working supplies and books. I'm only keeping the stuff
conducive to wire-work and other "cold" work)
- cabochons and facetted gemstones (maybe. I really like them, but honestly, I don't know when I'll ever be able to do stone-setting again)
- art/craft supplies
- unclassifiable weird shit
- comic books and graphic novels (how could I have forgotten these? Sheesh! Mostly "alternative" comics--not so much in the way of superheroes)

I've decided not to try to get part-time work this coming month. Selling off all this stuff will pretty much be a fulltime job.

If you live in the area and know you want some of the stuff I haven't listed yet, come on over and make us an offer. We'll be getting rid of some furniture, and, just before we go, food, too.

The list of stuff we want to take with us is scant, especially considering most of my stuff is already in Ontario.

Any Nehru jackets, or is the Indian garb just girls' stuff?

Date: 2006-05-22 12:05 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
Alas, but it's all women's stuff. [livejournal.com profile] f00dave wasn't much into ethnic clothes.

I may be interested in the patterns.

Date: 2006-05-22 12:34 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
It's going to take me a while to get photos of each of them, but they'll be up!

I'd be interested in books/boardgames

I could drop by tonight looks through stuff if you guys got time
Tonight's no good because we have to go to bed extra early to make Kathryn's flight. But tomorrow should be good. I'm hoping to make kung fu, so how about after that?
Oh, and I told my sister I'd give her dibs on games, so we'll have to figure out what she wants, first.
ok sure tomorrow after fu sounds good

Ok. I'll have to go through them yet and see what I'm keeping and what I'm not.

BOOOOOOOKS!

I call dibs on Gaiman, any and all, if possible.

fuck!
yes!

I only own American Gods and Neverwhere, so if you've got anything else, I'm in like flynn.

Sure!

Pattersn I know someone in Freddybeach who'd be interested in looking through and with:

- tools (most of my metal-working supplies and books. I'm only keeping the stuff
conducive to wire-work and other "cold" work)

Do you have an anvil in the collection of tools?

Game stuff is also of intrest

Date: 2006-05-22 07:13 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
Sorry, but I don't have an anvil.

Once I find the patterns (they're hidden around somewhere), I could certainly have someone go through 'em. It'd save me having to photograph them and write them up.

I still have to go through the games and see what I'm keeping, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting rid of several White Wolf books.

Sorry to hear that yer selling so much, but I'm interested in the books and game (RPG) stuff you might have... although it might be gone already.

(Ugh.. need coffee; when you have to correct a two-line comment *5* times, you need stimulants..)

Date: 2006-05-22 06:41 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] encaf1.livejournal.com
... and I should add that I'm interested in fiction and philosophy for books, not really art and clothing. :)

Date: 2006-05-22 07:13 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
Dave has the philosophy, and there's some fiction. We still have to sort through them. We'll likely do that this week.

Date: 2006-05-22 05:24 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] forestmaster.livejournal.com
Also interested in patterns and possibly clothing if sizing is compatible.

Date: 2006-05-22 07:15 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
Most of the clothes fit me, and I'm about 5'9" and 145 pounds (ie. slim and tall).

I do have some stuff left over from dance vending in a lot more sizes. I'll post them when I get photos.

Date: 2006-05-23 01:43 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] potbelly13.livejournal.com
Oh goody! Do you have dance stuff in larger sizes from your vending days? If so I have dibs!

Date: 2006-05-24 07:16 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
I have a couple of salwar khameez in pastel colours. I'm guessing they're around a size 16-18 or so.

Date: 2006-05-25 02:52 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] potbelly13.livejournal.com
Mmmmm, pastels are not really my thing. If you had pics of them though I'd be willing to reconsider. You never know. I picked up a dark pink (rose) hip scarf the other day and got tons of compliments when I tried it on.

I didn't know what salwar khameez were, so I googled it and found this:
"...It hides the fat as it is a flowing dress usually..."

Heh.

Man, I'd love to be interested in clothes, but I bet we wouldn't even wear the same size in sari.

If you happen to be getting rid of any Apples To Apples, I'd be interested. Or pretty much any Icehouse games.

Date: 2006-05-22 07:16 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
I'm pretty scrawny, but I do have a few things in other sizes. I'll post them when I get them photographed.

No Apples to Apples (what's that? I've never heard of it.), and no Icehouse stuff. Sorry!

Date: 2006-05-22 07:29 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] threemilechild.livejournal.com
Apples To Apples is a very you sort of game. It's a card game with noun cards and adjective cards. Each round one person lays down a noun, everyone else an adjective from their hand that they feel best describes the noun -- in the group I played with funny and ironic adjectives tended to be favoured, but that's up to the players of course.

Date: 2006-05-22 07:30 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
Fun! I like word games, but no one ever wants to play them with me. *sniff*

Date: 2006-05-23 12:17 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] valkryor.livejournal.com
Maybe we can get an Apples to Apples game when we move. You'd enjoy it, but it can get quite silly. :D

Date: 2006-05-23 11:39 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] miraba.livejournal.com
You would definitely like Apples to Apples.

Date: 2006-05-22 10:07 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] freakwoman.livejournal.com
I be interested in books, tools & stones, but we don't get into fredericton til next Mon. Which tools, how much, etc?

Date: 2006-05-24 07:16 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
I still have to find them and go through them, but I'll let you know.

Date: 2006-05-23 11:42 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] fusty-cabbages.livejournal.com
I'm also interested in patterns, looks like I might have to fight for them though! I can drop by anytime weekday evenings.

Date: 2006-05-24 07:17 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
I'll make a post when I find the patterns, so people can have a look-see.

BD Books & hello

Date: 2006-06-04 12:43 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] changingwomon.livejournal.com
Hi!

This is my first time on LJ in over a month, so I just noticed you were back in the area and selling away the last 15 years of your life. If I read things right, all the bellydace cds, vhss & dvds are gone, but you may have books for sale and these may include some from this genre. Although I realize that this may not be the case because I have a hazy memory of our last visit where you mention packing those and bringing them up to Ont with you. So, if you are selling your Bdance books, please known that I'll buy any one of them that I do not already have. Let me know when you are leaving the province again and I may be able to make a run up to the capital to visit and pick up before then.

:) B

Hey!

All my dance books are back in Kitchener. Those ones I was planning on keeping. Heh...

I think there may be a couple of dance biographies kicking around (more ballet, than anything else). Are you interested in those?

I'll likely be around for most of the month. I'm planning on returning by the beginning of July. It'd be awesome to see you guys again!

I thought that you'd already brought them with you, being the smart woman you are. No, ballet bios are a dime a dozen, while bellydance books are a rare commodity in the area, as you know. I'll pass on those.

Yes, another visit would be most fun! My busy schedule has been slowing down quite a bit lately and I may be able to get a trip up your way before you leave. Both John & I are doing pretty good lately. We are planing to get caught up on what we are individually planning for the next 6 months or so to syncronize and will see if it is in the cards. Is there a better time than not for you to have visitors?

By the way, I spent a bit of time browsing your & Dave's LJs last night after sending out my note. Please know that I was sending both You & Your Hubby Lot's of Love and Strenght when I was reading about your experiences. I just about called between 10:30 & 11pm, but decided to wait until today to connect. Hopefully, I'll turn into a visit and hugs can be given instead of wishes!
