shanmonster: (Dance Monkey Dance!)
I went for a walk tonight, and when I got back, both cats started fighting over who got to snog with my shoes. They've never been interested in shoes before, and frankly, I'm glad they're neutered/spayed because they're practically humping the shoes. I thought that maybe it was something I walked in, but they're not interested in [livejournal.com profile] zero_design or [livejournal.com profile] snowy_kathryn's shoes, and they walked where I walked. Weird.

Also, I just got a phone call asking me to come in for a job interview at a health food store tomorrow. The woman was very breathy and new agey sounding, asking me if I was following my heart. I told her I would choose to work for an environmentally-friendly small business than for a large soul-sucking corporation, any day. That made her happy. So did all the artistic/creative stuff on my résumé. So I'll be biking off there tomorrow, following my heart and empty pocketbook. Something tells me that for best results, I should dress like a hippy.

No car, and no license. The last time I drove a vehicle was in 1989.

I had my beginner's permit in '89, and was doing pretty well. One day, when my Dad and I were driving back home from town, he told me to take the wheel. I was sick with the flu, and told him I really didn't want to drive because I was sick. He told me to take the wheel, or he'd never let me drive the vehicle again.

I didn't feel safe to drive (dizzy and woozy), so I never got to drive the vehicle again.

And since it was the last vehicle I ever had easy access to, I never did get my license. Drivers' ed. school is too expensive, and besides, we don't have a car. I walk or bike everywhere, taking the bus or taxis when I need to. But mostly I don't need to.

I'm happier with it this way, because it's kept me in shape when so many people I know with cars are out of shape, and always paying for upkeep and gas.

Hee!

Reminds me of when I interviewed for a 1-800 Tarot line. When I expressed concern over the cost of the training and equipment, the interviewer suggested that I do my own layout on the question, and then meditate over it.
