All of a sudden, I'm sick. Sore throat, snuffy nose, woozy brain, upset stomach: the works. This had better disappear by Saturday, because I'm dancing, damnit. It's a workshop with
oceanfiretribal. The odd thing is, the last time I took a workshop from her, I was sick then, too. In fact, I very nearly puked all over her. Good thing she can move fast....
I realized I was sick as I took a walk downtown to run some errands, and wobbled plenty at the stop lights. I guess this explains why last night's dance class felt so very off. The choreography was eluding me, and I felt stunned and stupid. At least the footwork drills went well. I guess I can do that much on autopilot, now.
I'm registered for a free class on theatre direction tonight, but I think I should give it a miss. I think that going to bed early would be a wise decision. Maybe the rest will let me feel better sooner. Next week, I'll be attending a playwriting class, which is more interesting to me than direction, anyhow. And the week after that, I'll be modelling once again. Who knows what I'll be wearing and how much arse I'll be showing this time? Not me!
While out, I stopped by one of the many secondhand book shops in Kitchener. I picked up E. R. Eddison's The Worm Ouroboros, C. S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters, and Richard Lortz's Bereavements. Now I just have to find time to read the gazillion and a half books on my to-be-read list.
I've been working on a new dance shop for my website. Every time someone buys something from one of my links, I get a small commission which funds my dance library. In turn, I share what I learn with my students and with you! You can check the shop out here. I'm still having problems with it in that I cannot seem to find a way to add the books and costuming to it, but I'm hoping Amazon will get back to me soon with some advice. In the meantime, what's up there is quite usable. And the colour scheme is very similar to the one I hope to have for my new and improved dance website, which shall be going up whenever I get the chance to finish it. Oh yes, and once the hard drive for my server has been replaced. In case you're wondering, this is the reason my site is down again. Oh joy, oh bliss, oh deceased hard drive. Gad....
I received an email today about teaching an introductory dance class over in Waterloo. I'll have to get back to them to see what they're looking for. It will be nice to make money at something I enjoy doing. It's been too long....

C.S. Lewis warped me
Date: 2006-11-15 10:58 pm (UTC)From:Now that I think about it, maybe all that C.S. at an early age gave me that obsession I have with good and evil.

Date: 2006-11-16 12:23 am (UTC)From:I'm not sure if you've talked to her but I've offered her my place to crash at for the weekend. I'm unfortunately going to miss her class cause I (fortunately) get to go to San Francisco for some Burning Man meetings. Anyways, we have three 'beds' in our place and you're welcome to crash with her at our place if you don't want to trek back to Waterloo after her workshop. I live near Little Italy on Harbord near Grace st.
just thought I'd offer :)
Hope you feel better!

Date: 2006-11-16 05:25 pm (UTC)From:I'm quite a bit sicker today than I was yesterday, so chances are that I won't stay overnight, after all. The dance workshop alone will be taxing my reserves.
I might sit out most of the workshop, and take notes. Poop.
