I've just submitted an application for another dance show. "Dancing With The Secretaries (DwtS) will be an exciting cabaret of dance performances that use humour and inventiveness to shed light on working life. DwtS is being presented as an official event in Mayworks: A festival of working people and the arts www.mayworks.ca and will take place at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre at 8 pm on May 4 2007."

In my vision, I am an employee at a dry cleaners' outlet. While hanging laundry or whathaveyou, I end up cutting loose with a coat hanger dance. Swaths of silk will be suspended from the hangers. I see something akin to veil and poi.

I just did a quick and dirty mock-up with a silk scarf and a skirt-hanger, and it has potential.

What do you think?

....

I just received an email from another fitness studio asking me to teach dance. I'd consider it, but it's a ways out of town and transportation is a significant issue.

Wow. It's nice to feel wanted! Heh....

....

As of last night, I no longer live in a guys' dorm! [livejournal.com profile] gha5t and [livejournal.com profile] dreamlikedouche have moved down the hall into their own apartment. Their place is beyond bachelor pad. It's more like the house of a freshly-divorced guy who lost everything to his estranged wife. They have a bottle of booze, a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jam, a knife, a spoon, some bread, and not much else. I'm going necessities-shopping with them over the next couple of days to make the place look less barren. Luckily for them, furniture should be arriving in a matter of days.

But most excitingly for me, I have my dance studio back. [livejournal.com profile] gha5t is no longer camped out in it, and I can get back to my regular dance drills and sewing. Woohoo! But first I must do some cleaning. With all the extra people, it got extra messy in here. Oi.

....

Time for your daily links, now, right?

Smart Dog: While I'd hesitate to say this dog is dancing, I don't hesitate to say his/her partner is. That is a superbly-trained animal, and kudos goes to the trainer!

(I believe animals can and do dance, by the way. I've witnessed it in horses many times, and many horses do have an excellent sense of rhythm, and will change their gait to match whatever music is playing....)

Sarong Pants: Very cute pants. I think I'd like to make a pair for myself. Maybe if I ever finish my outstanding dance costuming projects, I'll have opportunity to make regular, everyday wear for myself.

Ryan: Liguid, Weaving, and Illusions: I think a huge part of what makes this contact juggler's work so impressive is his precision. His movements and angles look like they've been drawn with drafting tools.

....

I fully expect to be brutally sore again tomorrow. In a few short minutes, I'm off for weight training. And later on, I'm trying out a kick boxing class, and then I'm off to wing chun. The kick boxing class is free for me, so I figure, why not? Even if the class is crappy, I can work on my own technique there, right?

I made the sarong pants a few years ago, VERY easy sewing project, and VERY comfy pants afterwards. I'm sure these would go well with ANY dance costume.

Just tie the bottom hem corner's together to keep them on your legs if you're going to be doing any kicking, or leg raises. :)
