Fake drug, fake illness -- and people believe it!: "Fake drug, fake illness -- and people believe it!" I'm not sure if this is better or worse than the hypochondriac old lady who claimed to have prostate cancer.
Chinese Scientists Control Pigeons: Orbital mind control lasers are a thing of the now! You can see the cyborg pigeons here.
Swiss paper publishes this bogus Gucci ad: "In Switzerland, it doesn’t take much to be in a Gucci ad campaign. You photograph yourself naked, add a perfume bottle and the Gucci logo, send it to a weekly paper, and have them bill Gucci directly for the $50,000."
Furries scare the hell out of me.
Dissect them alive: order not to be disobeyed: "For 62 years, Akira Makino spoke not a word of what he’d done, but to those who knew him well it must have been obvious that he was a man with a tortured conscience. Why else would he have returned so often to the obscure, mosquito-blown town in the southern Philippines where he had experience such misery during the Second World War" (thanks,

In defence of Furries
Date: 2007-02-28 06:08 pm (UTC)From:Yowza! Ouch, that photo is really scary, but if I may...
I'm not a "Fur" myself, nor do I plan to become one, but I have had the pleasure of getting to know some members of the local Furry community in my travels over the last year as President of the local SF/F society. These people are warm, kind, fun, energetic, creative souls and they brought a wonderful dimension to our convention and other events last year. They're nothing to be scared of. (Like clowns. Clowns are friggin' scary!)
Contrary to popular belief, the term "Furry" is not equal to "sexual deviant", as CSI would have us believe. Yes, there is a small percentage of their group who incorporate their Fur suits into sexual play, just as there is a small percentage of, say, Star Wars costumers who do the same. The Fur community suffers greatly due to the popular stereotype that they're all some kind of weird fetishists who fantasize about beastiality.
From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_fandom): "Furry fandom is a subculture distinguished by its enjoyment of anthropomorphic animal characters." That means, anyone who likes the idea of animals acting like humans in literature, cartoons, art, stories, etc... is a Fur. The Furry Fandom community is large and diverse, ranging from artists to writers, role players to cartoonists, and yes, even costumers... but they don't all own Fur Suits, and very, VERY few of them do anything weird with their suits. (All clowns have clown costumes, though, and all clowns are scary. I cannot be convinced otherwise.)
I didn't want to be all preachy or anything, just to let you know that there's really nothing to be scared about... except that photograph. Bleh!
