shanmonster: (Dance Monkey Dance!)
Today's clip features the Casino.com dance troupe performing rueda--a dance form I know nothing about. What I do know is that this group choreography is extremely intricate and far beyond anything I can currently do. Impressive!

Very interesting. The long shots gave a better idea of the group movement, but due to the encoding the medium shots were necessary to see the details of their limb movements. I was annoyed every time they cut to the group on stage.

You were saying a few weeks ago that you saw the potential for square dancing to be complex and onteresting.... and this is just about where that leads to. This reminded me a lot of a lot of group folk dances I have seen, only a lot more clean. And with a grounding in more Latin style movements.

Okay maybe not the bits where the ladies are hanging their legs over their partners, I have never seen that in folk dancing...

*poke poke*

I finally saw the ballet I'd asked you about. Serenade was ... a little frilly for my tastes. Apparently it was comprised of 'accidents' that happened over the course of rehearsals, so it had a bit of an organic quality. The ballet they set to Carmina Burana was very, very beautiful, full of sensuality. If it ever plays in your neck of the woods, I'd recommend it!
