shanmonster: (Dance Monkey Dance!)
Today's clip features a martial arts dance. The performers include Chinese world and national wushu champions. The beginning is Bagua (wushu competition style), and then they do Chen t'ai chi chu'an, with theatrical stylizations. It makes for a gorgeous stage show.

Have you ever done a dance using only martial arts movements?

No, although I've done a dance performance which began with a series of movements from one of my weapons forms.

very very interesting. The beginning also opens as taichi 24-move, and the fan form bears resemblance to some tai-chi fan forms. I almost think the whole thing is meant to inspire the many chinese people who might wake up and do a little tai-chi every morning.

I'm not as familiar with Bagua Zhang (i was looking for their circle), which part is reflective of those forms?

I'm not familiar with Bagua Zhang. My wing chun instructor told me he saw it in the video, but he didn't specify where.
