I'm feeling much better and am hard at work on a new dance costume. This one is a black, white, and red and is made from some hand-woven fabric (heavy linen, I think) with a geometric design. I suspect it may be Middle Eastern (Syrian, perhaps) in origin, but don't know enough about ethnic textiles to be certain.
The top is a simple tight-fitting bandeau with shoulder straps, and the belt a corset-style belt. Both will lace closed. I want to keep the design very simple, and may completely forgo any ornamentation. I think the textile design stands on its own. As for the skirt or pants, I'm thinking of a bright red, but that can wait.
Hmm. Maybe it will go with my red tulle-bi-telli skirt. I'll check after I've finished it, and if it does, it will be a pleasant surprise...
