shanmonster: (Dance Monkey Dance!)
A couple of unidentified performers compete in the fitness dance category of the Neutron Fitness Event in Ottawa. I'm not entirely sure why the first competitor bothers with the poi, but the umbrellas in the second dance make perfect sense.

I have to say, I didn't really like either of them, but I can appreciate the athleticism involved. The second one looked a bit more coordinated, even though she had the most awful outfit I've ever seen... The first just looked like she was trying to fit as many tricks in as she could before the beat got away from her and it wasn't very...dance-y. I dunno.

I think my main problem with fitness dance competitions is how they're so damned rushed. If they slowed down a couple of notches, I think the transitions would look and be much more powerful.

I'm still on the lookout for a women's fitness dance video that blows me away.

That being said, both of these women are obviously in prime shape, and I'd love to have their rapid-fire strength and flexibility.

Wow. That was...awkward.

What firelie said. Great athleticism, but no art, no soul. The second one played to the crowd like she was a cheerleader, the first one was ???. She might as well have been doing her routine in an empty room. Needs more Tai Chi.

And as long as I'm thinking about Tai Chi, Saturday April 28 is the International Tai Chi Festival, in case you're somewhat interested.
