shanmonster: (On the stairs)
If I had the money (ha!), I'd get a variety of message t-shirts. They'd have the following slogans:

  • The sheep got Hans!
  • poo poo lucky head
  • Irrumabo vos et pedicabo.
  • [cock be busted]
  • A sparkly in a tinfoil world
  • Sophist wannabe

Ok, so it's not much of a variety, but I'm not much in the awake department, yet, either. I'll likely remember others as the day progresses.

But honestly, if I had the money, it'd go toward a new motherboard for my website. More on that further down....

I miss my ICQverts. Googletalk hasn't provided me with anything close to the same diversions into illiteracy. This is a blessing, though, I am sure.

Last night during pole dance, I broke through yet another plateau. I can now easily lift both legs up and out while holding myself with a braced bottom arm and a firm grip with the top hand. And I can even lift myself out to the side a bit with the same configuration, curl myself into the pole, and get a big of a spin going from a standing start. My strong legs and abs are finally coming into play.

My weekends are booked right up until the end of the month. Last weekend, I attended a tribal fusion workshop with Rosanna. This weekend, I'm being treated to a live show of Rocky Horror Picture Show with [livejournal.com profile] redlyra and [livejournal.com profile] snowy_kathryn, and then I'll attend the International Belly Dance Conference. The next weekend, I'm working at and attending Denise Fujiwara's No Exit. Dance is life.

I'm in the process of getting my application in order to dance at the Kitchener multicultural festival this summer. I'm planning on doing a taxim followed by a fire poi performance if the festival's permits allow it, or non-fiery poi if they don't. The music I've chosen is "Ana" by Transglobal Underground followed by an edit of "Pistolero" by Juno Reactor. I guess I'll bill myself as a world fusion dancer. [livejournal.com profile] snowy_kathryn will be doing belly dance ahead of me, and possibly acting as my fire safety when I come on with poi ablaze.

I need larger poi heads. The ones I have now will only burn for about two minutes.

Also, for those who have been wondering about the fate of The ShanMonster Page. The motherboard is dead. It is an ex-motherboard. It's fucking snuffed it, and the powers that be (meaning me and the server administrator), be po'. Donations will gladly be accepted to help finance a new one. If you're interested in helping out, here's how:

All proceeds will go directly into getting the site back online. Any fund-raising ideas will be gladly considered. Quid pro quo!

Mind if I post your info about the site to a couple of tribes?
I'd really like to help get that back up, I miss it. I can toss a small donation your way on Friday. Sorry, it'll be very small, but if each dancer who loves your site could do the same....!

Thank you! All is appreciated.

Do you have specific system requirements? I have a motherboard that came from an older computer that works just fine- we just upgraded. We don't know what to do with it. I can get specs for you if you're interested. My husband always keeps these things "just in case".

Ach, Hans, run! It's the vampire sheeeeep!!!

I'll look into it. Thanks!

I have an older motherboard kicking around too. (Intel Celeron 1Ghz)

I also have a AMD64 processor if you can find a motherboard for it as another option

Oh, that really sucks about the demised motherboard. Let us know if [livejournal.com profile] hayet's motherboard offer comes through. If not, [livejournal.com profile] roya_spirit and I share the same payday. =)

said it once, will say it again, im willing to try hosting your site for free, as long as your bandwith isnt insane, and even if it is, im sure we can figure something out.

You'd already told me my bandwidth is higher than you'd be comfortable to deal with. My site sees a lot of traffic, and is enormous.

well we never did figure out how much actual bandwith it took, or how big it actually was, im willing to try it out for a few weeks if you want, to see how bad it really is

I'll wait till someone responds about motherboard requirements because I have a herd of old Pentium something computers hanging about - I could donate them if it would help. But if it's a new fangled Xx Athlon Pentium Superwhopper Killer Diller mother board running at 50 kagillion SuperWhoppperHertz that you need then send me a snail mail address and I'll send a money order.

First... thank you all!

hayet - What model of motherboard is that?

joncanuck - The AMD64 would likely do the trick - I'll have to find a motherboard for it. Do you happen to know what model it is?

doyce - I have older Pentiums as well, but unfortunately they're insufficient for the task; it would need to be at least a "Pentium 4" to survive...

Once I hear back about the models, we should be able to figure out the best way to get Shan's web site up and back to normal. Thanks again!

P.S: I'll be supplying Shan with the server's mailing address too, since it isn't in the same province as she is.

Could it have been 1997 or thereabouts that I first came across the Shanmonster? TEN WHOLE YEARS AGO! It was an amazing site to visit, it was an education in art, anthropology, and much, much more.

Then for some reason lost track of it and just this month ran across a link to it, I thought WOW I recognize that name, shanmonster, it is a treasure trove bellydancing lore and so forth. All those years I could have been refreshing my soul there and wasted. It is very sad to find it offline.

I wonder how much of the bandwidth problem was caused by a link, as I was searching for Middle Eastern tinged art and so forth came across through the search engine, from "erosblog", he said he had 3,000 readers. Wow just what you needed 3k HNG hitting your website all at once.

It is a sad state of affairs that someone like yourself, who offers us who may have no other way of encountering such, beauty and joy, cannot do so without incurring a burden.

Thank you for your contribution to the betterment of humanity, for in beauty is much cure.
