shanmonster: (On the stairs)
Good morning! Here are some links for your perusal. Enjoy!

Mystery cat takes regular bus to the shops: This reminds me a bit of a story I read years ago about how pigeons have been commuting in and out of London on trains. I can't find that story now, but I found a similar one about pigeons riding trains in New York.

The Zimmers - My Generation: Sometimes the elderly like to rock out, too.

Galileo Was Wrong: There is no evidence the earth is in motion (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] idolekt).

Prefilled Communion Cups: These religious snack packs contain both the body and blood of Christ. Any similarity to a Jello pudding cup is surely coincidental (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] suzycat).

Frank Zappa - Baby Snakes: This approximates what happens in my brain at any given time (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] fourcorners).

Disney to offer gowns for Princess brides: "Walt Disney Co. is looking to grab a bigger piece of the wedding cake, and feed its burgeoning Princess business, with a new line of character-inspired bridal gowns aimed at women who want to look and feel like Cinderella at the ball on their big day." In other words, cosplay hits the big time.

Worksafe Hardcore Pirate Porn: I think it's worksafe. Maybe not (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] balthcat).

I've passed the bar, and I'm on a mission from God: This story is so satisfying that it must be fictional. It's too good to be true (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] gha5t).

Are mobile phones wiping out our bees?: Not the bees. NOT THE BEES (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] elanya)!!!

Renata en muestra de Sarahi: A four-year-old belly dancer raq-ing the stage.

The Tiered Skirt: Make your own three-tiered dance skirt.

Goblet Dancing: I linked to this before, saying I wanted to do it. Now I'm repeating the process. I still intend to do this.

That My Generation was possibly the best thing I've seen on YouTube, ever.

I have a hard time reconciling the cell phone/bee correlation. We've been using cell phones for years, and apparently the bee colonies have a die-off like this in cycles that started long before cell phone use.
This (http://pestalert.ifas.ufl.edu/Colony_Collapse_Disorder.htm) seems far more likely as reasons for the die-off.. mismanaged feedlot style bee-keeping.
There's a bellydancer goes by Palika on tribe.net who is an organic bee-keeper.. she has a lot to say about commercial bee-keeping practices and how it's akin to beef feedlot management.

When I read the Disney headline, I thought immediately of the apotheosis-of-tack that was the wedding of Posh and Becks, where they sat on gold and red thrones, released 100 white doves at the big moment, and served sticky-toffee pudding for dessert:

That's like the cat from Whisper of the Heart! (one of my fave movies of all time)

Galileo was wrong: so that's where Tycho of Penny Arcade got his name...

Disney wedding gowns: They printed pictures of a bunch of them in the Metro today, and they're pretty boring. They're merely 'inspired' by Disney princesses, so bear zero resemblance to said princesses and instead just look like every other boring white wedding dress out there. I fail to see the appeal, even if I were a Disney-phile.
