shanmonster: (Dance Monkey Dance!)
Zenne Diva, an Oriental dancer from Turkey, shows his mastery of a variety of isolations. I'd like to see a clip of continuous dancing, rather than just these tricks, but I'm still impressed. My back aches from just watching this, though. Maybe he has lordosis?

Agreed. The clips just show moving contortionism with a vaguely related soundtrack. I'd love to see him interpret the music. I mean, a little facial expression, please?

Maybe more video clips of him will turn up. I'm curious to see his dancing!

I never thought men do belly dance. His skill is fascinating, though I admit it's not aesthetically pleasing to me in any way. Still, I'm impressed by what he can do.

Lots of men belly dance. Belly dancing is a folk dance, after all. Men, women, and children do it. If you go to a disco in Egypt, you'll see people whipping off figure 8s, shoulder shimmies, and the ilk on the dance floor.

I don't find this guy aesthetically pleasing because his back is hyperextended and it hurts me to watch it.

But I have seen many male dancers who appeal to me aesthetically: Baryshnikov for ballet, Tito for raqs sharqi, Junior for breakdance, etc. A dancer's gender is irrelevant to me. It's all about the skill and the movement and the interpretation.

Wow, how cool is that? I really enjoyed watching this guy. His moves flow so smoothly, and the gold fringe in the last costume really moves and accents his interior hip circles so well.

His back really bothers me, though. Sometimes he's got this aweful swayback, sometimes not. Interesting.

His back makes me cringe!

Many of the great male Odissi dancers have this major lordosis problem as well. Ouch! Plus, it gives them pot bellies when there's no actual belly fat.

Between the swayback and the editing, I just couldn't watch it. I tried, though.

Wow. I don't find this the least bit aesthetically appealing, but it's really interesting.

OW HIS BACK.

But, neat.
