shanmonster: (On the stairs)
I overheard the superintendent talking to a postal delivery worker, telling him that any mail lacking an apartment number is to be returned to sender, because she doesn't have time to make sure it gets to the right person. This same superintendent was the last resident of my current apartment. She did not do a change of address at the post office, and I receive a LOT of her mail, which she expects me to deliver to her. Let me also add that a day or two before we moved into this apartment, we told her we were expecting a letter, and that if they came in before we moved, could she please just leave the envelope on the counter for us. That she did, after she'd opened and rifled through our new cheques.

About five minutes ago, I received notification that any bikes locked in the bike racks at my apartment building will be disposed of. The bike room has been dismantled, and we are expected to keep our bicycles inside our apartments until a new bike room has been created. The bike room has been problematic, because people pick up bikes and throw them around in there, causing plenty of damage.

There's no room for two bikes in my apartment. I can't even keep the bikes on the balcony, because I'd have to move my kitchen table and chairs every time I needed to bike.

I think I should park my bike in the superintendent's arse. What do you think?

Oh dear, I think her mail won't be making it to your place, don't you? I think it might accidentally fall into a large rubbish bin, having been accidentally torn in half. Such a shame. But, you know, I've heard a rumour that they're not delivering any mail without apartment numbers now, so perhaps that's why.

Wait, what?

Why, exactly, aren't you and the other residents supposed to use a perfectly good rack that was created for the express purpose of storing bikes? And doesn't the postal worker have a reasonable familiarity with the residents -- at least, enough so to match names to mailboxes?

I think that your bicycle enema idea is a pretty good one, all things considered. It might be the only thing large enough to dislodge the bug that's already crawled up there.

The bike racks are being usurped by huge garbage bins. The underground parking garage is being renovated, and every spare bit of space is being taken up by construction workers/machinery. Why the racks can't just be moved into the back yard, I don't know.

I really doubt the postal worker has a familiarity with the residents. I've never seen him, there are a LOT of people in my building, and the doors don't have names on them.

Er, that was me. LJ logged me out, for some reason.

Make sure you get the kick stand down, though, otherwise it might fall over.

I think she shouldn't get her incorrectly-addressed mail. :)

You should mark her mail "Does not reside here", and call the post office if she rifles through your mail ever again... I know it's a federal offense in the US, and wouldn't surprise me if it's illegal in Canada.
