18. From a member of the 'Dead rockers society': Hank Williams - Kawliga
19. Your favourite Elvis song: Elvis Presley - Hound Dog
20. Wildcard: Skinny Puppy - Worlock

* Here are the lyrics. I love this song, even now, although I haven't heard it in decades....

Once upon a time there were ten little cannibals
Swingin' on a vine, ,
One tried to pet a big wildcat,
And then there were nine.
One of the nine drank turpentine
And then there were eight.
Then one more fell dead on the floor
And seven was their fate.
One went to politics,
Then there were only six.
One took a dive,
Now five we see.
One went to Singapore,
Then there were only four.
One turned green,
Then there were three.
One fell into some glue,
Then there were only two...
They drank from a loving cup.
One became a skeleton,
Then there was only one,
And he ate himself all up. (What a silly thing to do!)

THIS IS NOT MONTECRISTO

Montecristo would never, ever, admit to liking The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins as sung by Leonard Nimoy, so I hacked into his account to send you a link to the video for this song! (http://homepage.mac.com/evanbaumgardner/iMovieTheater6.html) If pressed, Montecristo will deny making this comment. Heh!

I think the video is why she likes it. T'was posted on her site some months back.. ;-)

Really?!

Hmmm, maybe that's where I got the link initially... I honestly don't remember where I found it now...

Strangely, I can remember being hooked on "El Paso City" when I was a child. I haven't heard the song even mentioned in a couple of decades at least.

I'm a big fan of music that tells a story. Marty Robbins' ballads are old favourites of mine.

I presume, then, that you enjoy Harry Chapin and Gordon Lightfoot as well?

I'm unfamiliar with Harry Chapin, but I don't mind Gordon Lightfoot.

Surely you've heard "Cat's in the Cradle" which is Chapin's best known hit! It's not so story-ish as "Taxi" and "Sequel," however. Excellent stuff.

[livejournal.com profile] montecristo and I had a discussion somewhere on here once about Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." One of my all-time favorite songs. Might have something to do with living in Minnesota at the time the ship went down. It was huge news. I was 5 at the time, and remember it being the first time I was ever fascinated by a news item.

Yep! I've heard Cat's in the Cradle. Chapin's just not a memorable name for me, I guess.

Is Lightfoot still kicking?

He sure is! (http://gordonlightfoot.com/)
