shanmonster: (Lost in a velvet morass)
So I'm supposed to be in a group show in a few months. This will be my first gallery show in about five or six years. I'll be creating a sculptural piece for a gallery exhibition called "Seeing the Forest for the Trees": – a commentary on growth, clustering and technology in a society striving for individuality and balance in our natural surroundings. I've been thinking about my sculpture for the past while, and I think I've settled on a theme. I'll be basing my piece on Yggdrasil--the World Tree--with a modern bent. I'll be incorporating circuitry boards and copper wire with oak leaves and painted scenes. In my mind's eye, it looks pretty good. In the meantime, I still need to come up with a solidified version of my dance/performance art piece. I also need to think about the jewellery line I'll be creating when I return to school next month. And, I need to finish my Christmas shopping/creation.

So many projects and so little time. Whee!

Kathryn came by just a little while ago and gifted me with a delightful little book of vintage smut. It's full of happy, nasty images from the nineteenth century depicting ruddy cheeks, puffy vaginas, bedizened penises, and callipygous ex-maidens. It almost makes me want to create a sex tree for the show!
