Got this one from
elanya, and am only posting it because I think it's genuinely interesting.
1. One book that changed your life
I want to say the Bible, but that feels like an utter cop-out. I mean, I started off reading the Bible, so what kind of change was that? Of course, had I not read it, I likely would never have been as interested in ancient history, folklore, and mythology as I turned out to be.
2. One book that you've read more than once.
Julie of the Wolves. It's a classic children's story dealing with such topics as rape, cultural appropriation, mixed marriages, and conservation. It appealed to me very much as it has a strong and self-sufficient female protagonist. I first read it at a time when I thought girls weren't supposed to be like that.
3. One book you'd want on a desert island
Am I to suppose I'm on the island, too? And by myself? If these are the case, then some book on desert/wilderness survival, I suppose.
4. One book that made you laugh
Ramses the Damned by Anne Rice, although I suspect it was not supposed to make me laugh.
5. One book that made you cry
I think Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks made me cry.
6. One book that you wish had been written
The Baubo story I started, years ago.
7. One book that you wish had never been written
I really can't think of any. They all have value, if only as kindling.
8. One book you're currently reading
The Somnambulist by Jonathan Barnes.
9. One book you've been meaning to read
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov.
10. Bonus question - What book scared you the most?
Likely somefire and brimstone "good news" book put out by the Watchtower Society. I was terrified that everyone I knew (including myself) would be destroyed by God in Armageddon.
