shanmonster: (Sigh....)
Tonight, with the magical, mystical power of my hips, I summoned a happy crowd.

I'm walking down the street when I see a couple of djembe drummers pounding out a rhythm. I set down my bag and start jamming with them, starting with a shoulder shimmy, then bringing the syncopated movements down, down, down further into my glutes and hips, the home of rhythm. The drummers pick up my dancin' vibes, and their drumming becomes even more energetic.

A crowd gathers. Tourists with digital video cameras appear from nowhere, zooming in on the dancing and the drumming. Some Jamaican schoolgirls begin to sing. A harmonica player shows up. And then, as a blues singer holding a small child in his arms chants "How low can you go?" in his gravelly whiskey and cigarettes voice, I backbend down to the sidewalk, hover horizontally for a while, and ascend again.

A few shimmies later, I gather up my bag, thank everyone, and leave. And the crowd disperses in a confetti of smiles.

That's my night, so far. What have you been up to?

Wow. You win at existence. I love it when things like that happen, and I'm seldom at the epicenter. :)

Beautiful! I hope it encouraged by-standers to contribute to independent music support!

You might end up on youtube.
