Life is fucked, dontcha think? I'm worried sick for a friend of mine who's going through some seriously bad shit, right now. And I mean on an epic scale, too. In the meantime, I'm keeping myself busy and occupied productively.
After over a decade of utter procrastination, I've finally started teaching myself Latin. If you care to share in my linguistic agony, visit Beginners' Latin. I decided to go with Medieval Latin just 'cause. Why? Well, to be honest, because it was the first link I found when I Googled for Latin lessons, and it looked as good a place to start as any. The noun declensions are killing me. I've been reading them over and over again, and now I don't know if I know them, or if I've just memorized them and they'll flee my brain within the hour. Actually, I do know. It's the latter case. Sigh....
In theoretical excellent news, because of this, it seems as though there's a possibility a full season of Underworld TV may come to fruition. Apparently, television executives have been giving the concept a serious thinking-over. If this goes, there's another chance that I might actually get paid to LARP. Whoa. And I thought managing a comics/game shop gave me geek cred. It ain't got NUTHIN on this!
Still, that's a lot of mights based on possibilities based on maybes based on other chances. I'll believe it when I start seeing contracts, I guess. Doesn't stop me from fanboy squeeing at my fellow gamers, though, for being such amazing RPers that this is even a serious consideration. Whee! You guys rock! Mwah! Now, just stop killing/exiling my characters for a while, hmm?
Next week, I meet with representatives from the Fine Arts department at the University of Waterloo. I'm nervous about this, as it's been far too long since I last did any academic work. I'm not terribly concerned about getting another degree. I just want to do some more serious learning. I miss the structure of classes. I find it really helps me get my brain in gear. And assignments force me out of my natural lassitude, and all of a sudden, I'm not surrounded by half-finished projects, but completed ones.
Maybe I'll take a Latin course. That might force me into comprehending the declensions. I swear, Latin is like the math version of language.

Helps when you've got lessons three times a week and are aged 13-16, gotta say. I can remember Latin declensions better than my times tables.
