I'm at school, killing time until the wax tank (or whatever the hell it's called) gets up to temperature. I'm pretty low on energy, so I'll be coming home as soon as I've made a couple of wax moulds. I don't think I'll bother investing them tonight. I'll do it later in the week.
Yesterday was spent geeking. I went to Comunicon (I don't get why it's spelled that way) where I played a passel of games including Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, and Munchkin Fu. I almost got to play Fence and Fenceability, but the scheduling was awry. I also watched the tail end of a truly atrocious movie called Darkness Falls. As far as I could tell, it's about an evil tooth fairy. It was about as bad as you'd expect.
I won two of the games I played, and to my surprise, this meant I gleaned prizes! I won a free lunch at Tim Horton's. That's some serious gastronomy, there. I also won a copy of the Far East resource book for Forgotten Realms. It's a $40 text. That's all well and good, excepting I don't play AD&D. I guess that means I have a nice, new book for sale. Interested?
I really enjoyed Munchkin Fu. It's a Steve Jackson card game. If you've never played a Steve Jackson game, you're missing out. His games are very entertaining, partially because of solid game mechanics, and also because of the crazy possibilities which pop up. For instance, in Illuminati, it's possible for the Gnomes of Zurich to control congressional wives who in turn control California who control Orbitting Mind Control Lasers and the KKK.
In Munchkin Fu, I was a monk who specialized in Banana Fu. I fought such worthy foes as Hong Kong Kong and a crazed midget. The game plays out like bad chop socky, and that's one of the reasons I like it so very much. I don't think my martial arts training had any bearing on my subsequent victory, but one can never tell....
Anyhow, the wax must be up to temperature by now, so I'm off.
