From a discussion I had with
fourcorners:
I had a cat named Foofoo who was very averse to having her kittens in the house. Instead, she always chose to have them in the barn, or hidden in the bushes, somewhere.
Well, this one time, I saw her limping horridly, coming out of the barn with a bundle in her teeth. Every now and then, she'd carefully put it down on the ground and yowl piteously.
I ran outside to see what was the matter and saw a tragic sight. She was carrying a terrified kitten, and trailing blood in her wake. Her awkward gait was due to the fact that her front paws were completely skewered by about a dozen porcupine quills.
I grabbed the kitten, and Foofoo stared at me, yowling, then led me mincingly back to the barn, where there were signs of an epic battle. Not until I'd gathered up all her kittens would she let me also pick her up and take them all into the house....
(Coincidentally, this was when I first discovered that porcupines are omniverous, and quite fond of scrumptious little critters like very small kittens.)
Oh yeah, Dad did manage to get all the quills out, and Foofoo was fine. And, due to Foofoo's superior fighting skills, so were the kittens!

Date: 2004-02-02 06:29 am (UTC)From:I'm dreadfully, dreadfully sorry about the unreasonable delay in shipping. I'll send your book out super soon, plus a bunch of dance goodies by way of an apology.
I'm currently awaiting a new run of books from the printers.
Or, if you would prefer, I can refund your money.
Again, I apologize enormously.
