Not necessarily.

Some of my best training has been free. I've been taught some of my most useful dance and martial arts tips in kitchens, in living rooms, and half drunk beside campfires. I've audited university classes, read library books, asked for and received good advice, and watched online tutorial videos. I've attended free concerts. I've gone to clothing swap parties and ended up with fabulous outfits.

Money does not guarantee quality. I am not saying that it's unethical to charge money for services. Hell, no. People need to eat, and if you need to charge money for your services to take care of yourself, do it!

BUT.... just because something is offered freely does not negate its value. My life is richer for the generosity of others. I continue to look for free workshops, festivals, and the like. The way I figure, I pay for this by sharing what I have learned freely, in turn.

But you can still take my dance and fitness classes for money, too. A girl's gotta eat. And for all the free things I've taken advantage of, I've also paid money for education, training, etc.
