shanmonster: (Lost in a velvet morass)

A link dump is long overdue.

Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo! Those are the only words I understand, but they're certainly applicable.

Gum Blondes: They're blonde, and they're made of gum! Juicy-looking portrait collages. Buy one, and support the Canadian art scene.

[Un Chien Andalou]

Un Chien Andalou clip: The creepiest animated gif I've ever seen. As surreal as anything else by Salvador Dali. You can get the actual movie here. I sure would like to see it....

An Ancient Greek Computer: "In 1901 divers working off the isle of Antikythera found the remains of a clocklike mechanism 2,000 years old. The mechanism now appears to have been a device for calculating the motions of stars and planets." Fascinating (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] chrysippvs)!

Iraqi Photogallery: Beautiful, stark photography. I think my favourite is the one of the woman breastfeeding her child while surrounded by soldiers.

Watch Me Eat a Hot Dog: Because what the world needs is a blog about hot dogs.

Cereal Boxes: Along the same line, only different (thanks, Shawn Casey).

One and Only Dolls: I don't particularly like dolls. I never did, even as a little girl. But some of these are gorgeous.

Valley has keyless encounters of the weird kind: Wow. Some think it's terrorism. People are silly.

Drachenfels Design: Some imaginative jewellery designs. I particularly like the Frog Prince and the Stag designs (thanks, Enai).

I Did It For Science: Sex Doll: One man's scientific experimentation with a Real Doll. Interesting reading, for sure....

Eroart: Vintage erotic artwork of varied styles. It's both pretty and kinky.

[Doing like they do on the Discovery Channel]

Also, why did Jesus die on the cross?

Because he forgot his safe word.

This is pretty much the idea behind this review of Mel Gibson's newest opus. And do you know what? I think the author's onto something.

Having seen Un Chien Andalou...
It's not a bad little film. Pretty freaky and very Dali-esque.
But the emphasis must be made on "little" - it is only slightly longer then 15 minutes long. So if you're spending money on it, make sure you don't spend too much :)

The eye bit is definitely the most disturbing bit of the whole thing...

I wonder if the public library can get it, maybe on interlibrary loan. Some library out there must have it....

Never mind! I fluked into it with Kazaa....

I'm pretty sure that the copy I saw was the personal property of the prof... so that can't help... but yeah, I do imagine the library could get it in for you...

Another great barrage of links. Thanks.

Where'd you get the picture of the bears?

If you click on the bears, you'll know where I got 'em.

I just read that review. Now I'm even more interested in seeing it.
