Have a Heart! Or Two!

I'm trying to raise money for heart and stroke research. Please donate to the cause. If you don't know anyone who's been effected by heart disease or strokes, you must've been raised by wolves. What are you doing on the internet? Shouldn't you be barking and peeing on trees or something?

A colleague of mine, Andre Theriault, died recently from heart disease. His little nephew Kael is trying to raise money in his uncle's memory for the local hospital. He's started a blog, and it's very sweet. You can do a two for one special by pledging to help him. He's asking for 25 cents for each book he reads. Promote literacy AND help improve a hospital, all in one move: Kael's Book Challenge.

I was literally just talking with a friend about André, about his joie de vivre, sense of fun, and talent for causing mischief. How he and my husband were once banned from Wal-Mart for having a sword-fight with pool noodles. Then I clicked a link, and there's his name. I shouldn't be surprised, since I knew you knew him (we all had lunch together my first time in Fredericton).

Kael is a great kid, and of course I will be supporting his book challenge!

Yes! Andre was always lots of fun. I knew him for years. I met him when I worked at CHSR. He was a newsie there. Then he was one of my supervisors when I worked at Delta. I don't think I've ever met someone as relentlessly fun and positive as he was.

"Relentlessly fun and positive". Perfect description! I met him through my husband. They met on their first day at UNB, and stayed best friends ever since. He was devestated when we got the news of André's death.
