On Saturday I did my first-ever timed 5 km run. I'm not going to win any races. I was the slowest person who did the run by far. BUT, I am pleased. I didn't have to stop even once. I didn't even need to slow down. And at the end, I was fresh enough to put on a block-long sprint and finish in 35:51. I know now I was overly cautious in my cadence, but since it was my first time, I didn't really know how to pace myself. Lance, the CrossFit running coach, was impressed by my time, and says I should be able to shear it down to 30 minutes by October.
Here's our running group about five minutes after I finished the course. I pretty much crawled into position.
I was afraid I might run something like this camel, but apparently my form looks pretty solid.

I was looking forward to training more this week, but I'm currently busy with fighting off a cold. I don't dare push myself too hard, because I can feel it settling into my lungs, and chest cold plus exertion equals bigtime asthma attack. Boo. I may have to put off this week's singing lessons, too, if my lungs are still ass.
The day before I ran, I did something else:

I can't get over how quickly and painlessly that's healing. This photo is from today. It hasn't stung, ached, or burned since Friday afternoon. It is a little bit itchy today, but not unbearably so.
Notice how it's inside the hairline. I'm going to let it grow over a bit for my parents' visit in June/July, because I don't want to have to deal with imprecations and lamentations.
I'm itching to do some creating. Costuming, perhaps? Or weaving? Maybe some writing. It's been too long for each of these things. At least I'll be doing more painting this week. I look forward to finishing my teapot.
In other news, I can now manage a pull-up or a chin-up from full extension. The chin-up is a strict movement, but my pull-up has a lot of air-humping going on. I can't do it with strict form. Yet.
Give me time, and it will happen.
Next week, I am scheduled to start aerial silk training. Whee!
