shanmonster: (On the stairs)
I've been seriously busting my ass lately, and show no signs of slowing down any time soon. As of July, I'm signed up for two aerial silks classes each week, on top of the usual running, cycling, dancing, and three or four CrossFit workouts. I'm trying to figure out where to stick the rock climbing I want to do, too.

Today is a scheduled rest day, since I am doing a mountain race tomorrow (my first race since I was in grade five, I think). But I can't stand not doing something, so I figured I'd do a bit of a challenge over on FaceBook. For every "like" I get, I've been doing five situps. At last count, there are 64 likes.

Here I am, banging out the first 100 situps.

Between sit-up bouts, I'm doing housework. Rarr!

There needs to be a gif of you that says something like "Enters War Zone. Uses Own Abs As Body Armor."

Hahah! That'd be pretty cool. My abs aren't as strong as I want, yet. I think they might be the weak link in my inability to hold a perfect L-sit.

I aspire to have the strength of your weak link.

When you said hi in the video one of my birds jumped like 3 feet in the air. Oops *lowers volume*

Awesome job. It would def take me longer than a few minutes to do 100 sit ups!

Hahah! Hi, birdy. Sorry about that....

Awesome.

If I can humbly suggest one thing -- you may want to keep your head back, so that your neck is aligned with your spine, throughout the whole situp. I always got neck pain burying my chin into my chest until I changed.

*shrugs* My neck has never hurt from situps in my recollection. I've always done the "hold an imaginary orange between chin and chest" manoeuvre.

thanks for posting that video! i always worry that i'm doing situps wrong, and it was awesome to be able to see them done repeatedly, to study different parts, and in a mirror too :)
