shanmonster: (For goodness sakes. I've got the....)

Over the past two days, I've noticed a sudden improvement in my absolute beginner dance students. They seem to be catching on to hip raises, hip drops, and snake arms much faster than they have over the past few years. I have students using the correct muscles to do movements at the onset. I'm no longer seeing them push their hip raises with their calves or flap their wrists in front of their faces with elbows at acute angles. But then I also realized I've changed my instructional methodology for these things. I'm becoming a much better teacher, and it makes me feel really, really good.

As you can tell, tonight's dance class went well.

The grey cloud to this silver lining was that I had to come home after a scant fifteen minutes of kung fu. I'm still not feeling all that healthy. Stupid mystery sickness. Bah!

I hope to be over it by next week. I have a dance performance at the Boyce Farmers' Market in Fredericton, NB next Thursday. If you'd like to check it out, I'm on at 1:00, and admission is free. It's sponsored by the Multicultural Association of Fredericton. If you'd like more information, or would like to participate with booths, performances, or food-selling, you can call (506)454-8292.

When did the market unban you? I thought you weren't allowed to perform there anymore because you might corrupt the youth or something similarly Socratic.

That's a good question without a good answer. As far as I know, I am still banned from the Saturday market. However, I'm kosher for multicultural festivals. I've danced at the multicultural festival at the Market for the past three years, and haven't yet heard any complaint.

Go figure.
