My birthday is on Sunday. Once again, I turn twenty-three. My Mom claims to be twenty-four, so it would be unseemly to be older than her.
Dear Birthday Claus:
I've been a very good girl (most of the time), and would like something other than a lump of coal in my stocking this year.
How about kung fu or Krav Maga classes?
Or how about getting the student loan people off my back?
How about a job at something I'm good at and enjoy doing?
And I sure as fuck would like a pony.
And now it's time for a good, old-fashioned link dump.
Backs to the Future: "Contrary to what had been thought a cognitive universal among humans – a spatial metaphor for chronology, based partly on our bodies' orientation and locomotion, that places the future ahead of oneself and the past behind – the Amerindian group locates this imaginary abstraction the other way around: with the past ahead and the future behind." Time is like a bullet from behind (thanks,
superbrad).
Hara Kiri Covers: NSFW. Defunct French satirical magazines' bizarre cover art (thanks,
balthcat).
Electrical substations disguised as houses: Sometimes a house is not a house.
Tv in Jappone (e in Italia?): NSFW. In no way, shape, or form safe for work.

Although I'd love a pony, I'm afraid the Pony Express no longer runs, and ponies don't package up too well.
