I located my pattern and cut into the fabric. After a knock-down battle with my sewing machine, the coat is coming along just fine.

I think I'll make bell sleeves instead of the standard draping ones. For trim, I'm thinking of using a subdued gold cord edging, and some sort of jacquard. Maybe in white? Hmm.... I'll play with it and see what I come up with. I like designing on the fly.

Man, that fabric is the bomb. I agree with you on the bell sleeves. That'll show the vine design nicely. Here is an old article from Threads magazine that walks you through inserting a bag lining into a jacket. Perhaps you could use some of the same techniques for the coat.
