First of all, I received a cookbook from [livejournal.com profile] dragonfish. It contains my recipe for Pumpkin Pie of Doom. She's selling the cookbooks as a fundraiser, so if you'd like to help New Zealand dancers out, go order one.

Secondly, when I got to work the other day, a big clay rooster was sitting on my desk. I can only guess this is the handicraft of [livejournal.com profile] freakwoman, who was telling me she needed a feather for something she was giving me. Indeed, he does have a feather sticking out of his butt, and he looks quite happy about it.

You know how when people shoot clay pigeons, someone yells, "Pull!"?

Well, when they shoot clay roosters, they yell "Poule!"

Yeah. I hate me, too.

Heh...

Work is busy again today, but not so bad as the last couple of days. Here's hoping it gets easier as the day goes on.

I've got 'The Stuff' too! Are you eating it, or is it eating you?

on an unrelated note, Dm and I were trying to organize some kind of fun this evening, and I was talking to Dave about the two of you possibly joining. Dm's at Judo til 9, then he's helping Greg with some stuff which he says will likely take him til 10. Dmitrii was suggesting gathering at Gregs and doing whatever while the two of them are sort of busy with whatever. If its not too late, we may be able to start a movie after that. SO, what are your thoughts?

I wouldn't be able to do much for long. I'm supposed to be in bed for 11.

I get home around 8:45. What did you have in mind?

Date: 2006-01-11 08:50 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] dreamlikedouche.livejournal.com
well, Dmitrii and Greg are preping some computers to sell on ebay. Dm hand in mind to just hang out and chat and stuff while that was being done. I was hoping for maybe a movie, but the scheduling seems to preclude that. Perhaps some video games? Feel free to make some suggestions.

Nuffin' special. I'm caught up for the moment, will be cleaning my office (what? we have a poppasan? OMG!) for the next while...

Ok. Here's the deal. I'll head over to Greg's from work. I should get there around 8:45. Dave will meet me there. Sound good?

Cool. Now I just gotta find a way there. I might be a touch delayed, but I'll get there somehow.

Small change in plans, I've been called up to UNB suddenly, I'll drop your supper off at Greg's, Shan. If nobody's home, I'll leave it near the door (in a bag). It's nukable, so you're all set.... If you get me Greg's number, I'll give you guys a call from there, okay?

Argh. How long are you going to be stuck there?

Hahaha! So I'm *not* the only one to pay good money for that movie!

I saw it on TV ... and I still paid too much. ;-)

Woo, multi-lingual punne!

Mais oui! J'habite sur une province bilinguelle, mais je ne parle pas francais.

I'll betcha I bunged that up, too.

Poule (I accidentally added an L) is French for hen.

Ma Franc(with a squiggle)ais, c'est tres mal, aussi.

Date: 2006-01-11 09:45 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] f00dave.livejournal.com
C'est "dans", pas "sur" ... who wants to live on a province? And I'm sligthly more certain that "province" is a feminine gender than masculine.

Date: 2006-01-11 10:14 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com
Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought that "sur" was used for places, and "dans" for things.

Any Frenchlings around who can shed light on this?

somewhere between cock & cook

Frenchling here...
Usually dans = in and sur = on.
Your attempt to explain your bilingual existance in the province would be: "Mais oui! J'habite dans une province bilingue, mais je ne parles pas le francais." The 'c' in the word 'fancais' has a squiggly under it.
Also, when someone shoots clay roosters, they would yell "Coq!" - please see subject line for the pronunciation.
Nuts!

I knew about the squiggly (cedille?), but I don't know how to type it. My keyboard isn't bilingual.

What about shooting clay hens?
